if high school superlatives had a category for least likely to succeed, jake might've actually appeared in his yearbook more than once. that is, if you even counted his name next to a gray box with the words “not pictured here” as an appearance. jake wasn’t exactly what most would call popular in school, but never cared if his strange behavior was what kept other kids from befriending him. he took a certain pride in being the weird kid who everyone avoided. in fact, he preferred it that way.
