Notes
“War is hell, but that's not the half of it, because war is also mystery and terror and adventure and courage and discovery and holiness and pity and despair and longing and love. War is nasty; war is fun. War is thrilling; war is drudgery. War makes you a man; war makes you dead.”
― Tim O'Brien, The Things They Carried

I really don't see the "vietnam" part here... nor the ww2... I believe you got your genres mixed bud

I've seen playlists with music from the time periods. I considered doing one, but instead I chose to do a modern playlist. Many of the songs on the Lumineers album (like Big Parade and Charlie Boy) are about the lead singer's grandfather who was a Marine who died in Vietnam. The Kids Are Ready to Die by the Airborne Toxic Event was written about the recent war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Masters of War is a well known anti-war song by Bob Dylan, covered by Ed Sheeran on this playlist. The other songs are left open for interpretation. So again, it's not necessarily supposed to be music from the time period, but music that relates to the emotions and ideas described in the quote from the book "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien.
