Deleted my original comment. This is great stuff, mostly new to me. It makes me wonder who was influencing whom back then. I hear a lot of early Talking Heads and other rich layers. You've piqued my interest in these bands. Thanks so much!

Maybe because I get a deranged wide-eyed look and start making odd squealing noises and guttural sounds whenever I see a cat.

Fabulous! I don't know why stray cats would run for you. If I was a stray cat, I would walk straight over and ask if we could listen to music together.
