A few songs surfaced, vaguely, in my mind this morning. Turns out, all were from '78, so I rounded out a mix. So long ago.

Did you digitize your 8-tracks? Even the cheesiest tunes in this mix sound so much better than what you now hear on the radio.

@gus I never actually owned any 8-track tapes, just remember these songs from the radio back in the day! It's all about context, I reckon. A lot of these sort of songs I re-discover either (a) at a hipster bar in Williamsburg, or (b) at a Walgreen's in Dubuque : )

Nice mix. All my 8tracks melted in the sun some time ago (years!) In retrospect, having an 8 track deck in the car wasn't such a hot idea...

mysteryschools

wow...78 never sounded so good... :D

Hey hey, thanks mysteryschools. Sometimes a little classic rock is quite nice.

Hi David - we were obviously thinking on the same wavelength when we compiled our 1978/Good Cheese mixes - some great stuff here that I'd completely forgotten about - Sniff 'N' The Tears, Exile - and Foreigner (they're not in the final mix but you mention them in your comments). I'll have to dig out a few Foreigner tracks - Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded...

Wow, and Wow again. I'm at work, listening to this mix for the 2nd time, and each song triggers a wave of emotional upheaval that this music, rare now to my ears, recalls from that definitive year of my youthful formation. I graduated highschool (30 years ago now!) in 1979 and I music meant everything. Now I rarely listen to it. But these songs are dangerous - they waken my wild side: a life of partying and the company of beautiful women.
Thanks.

@DScheeres - Thanks, and you're welcome. Glad you like. It sounds like you had a pretty excellent HS experience!

Actually I was miserable in HS. But that, plus the music, set the stage for what followed ... 8-)

:-) I'll have to leave those memories in their Pandora's box as I also am ("peacefully") married.

Dust in the Wind is playing while I reflect on how quickly the time passes. I owned many of this songs on 45's at one point in my life.

Cheers!
