I was 13, and it was a great summer for pop music: Michael Jackson still looked like a normal person, Prince had yet to become a symbol, and European synthpop played in Peoria.

A great mix from my junior year of high school. "Overkill" was always my favorite M@W song, and is usually neglected in favor of their bigger hits...bonus points are awarded for the Flock of Seagulls bookends!

Thank you! Overkill is such a catchy, subtle track. Def prefer it to Down Under and Who Can It Be Now? from the first album.

I have to confess: I still love AFOS, esp Space Age Love Song.

Love this mix. Growing up in the 80s, sometimes when i hear tracks like this it's almost hard to believe how good we had it. MTV was big not not everywhere, and records still stacked up tall against my bedroom wall waiting to be played for hours.

@conceptina - We did have it good. And I wasn't even aware of a lot of the stuff I started listening to a few years later (New Order, the Cure) that was happening during these years (but not on non-college US radio). Sooo long ago now.
