Evil Stig stands for "Gits Live" backwards. The Gits lead singer Mia Zapata was raped and murdered in 1993, and Joan Jett joined forces with the remaining members of The Gits with Joan Jett singing Mia's vocals. They toured, raised money for a private detective to find Mia's killer, and released an album produced by Jett's longtime manager Kenny Laguna through their Blackheart Records label. The studio recordings were made at Avast! in Seattle, plus live recordings from La Luna in Portland, RKCNDY and the King Theater in Seattle in March 1995.
