@lucejuice yeah!! I really love his Aquarium & Novel stuff! I didn't think it would fit quite well with this playlist though ahaha ^^

@fancy2na omg when I first heard If The Trees Had Eyes I was like wtf adam why :') but now I just think it's like poetry, it's brilliant! He's such a diverse artist tbh!

@lucejuice yesss i love if trees had eyes!! His work is so magical and unique, it's a shame he only gets recognized for his owl city stuff (which is fantastic too ofc) and not any of his other aliases!!

@fancy2na Omg Ikr!? His Port Blue and Sky Sailing stuff is a bit more recognised though I think! I'd looove a new Sky Sailing album, like as much as I love Owl City, I haven't been digging his new OC stuff as much so I kind of want him to go back to his roots a little and work on his old projects!

@lucejuice gosh same!!! Honestly i hated the midsummer station, and the only song i liked on mobile orchestra was bird with a broken wing. I think his oldest stuff is definitely his best work^^ Have you heard his new album under the name Color Therapy?? It's not quite as good as Port Blue/Windsor Airlift/Etc stuff but still better than the last two Owl City albums in my opinion :]

@fancy2na @fancy2na That's basically what I think too!! Like, some people are just like "ahhhh Vergeee is so gooood" and I'm like just no, like how can you even begin to compare that garbage to Rainbow Veins smh :') I didn't haaate TMS though, like Silhouette was good and Speed of Love and stuff, just not as good as OG Owl City like you said. I did hate Mobile Orchestra though! :') And Bird With a Broken Wing was the only one with any imagination! This Isn't The End is good too, but it felt like a cop out putting that on there bc it was on Ultraviolet. I've heard a bit of Colour Therapy though! I'm still not 100% convinced it's him for some reason! :') Like, yeah there's Port Blue stuff on there but why the secrecy?

@lucejuice People are pretty convinced color therapy is him because it's the same publishing company, and also if you listen to it the style is really similar to port blue's pacific ep!! the secrecy is questionable though, but adam is like that sometimes.. not so much secretive but reserved. He doesn''t advertise his other aliases that much ^^ But yeah with his newer stuff like TMS, Mobile Orchestra, and Ultraviolet, it's not so much that the music is bad because of course it's great (his vocals are spot on and all of his songs are catchy enough) but they just seem to be lacking something?? Like his older work inspired me so much, there's something special and magical about it that I can never explain quite right (gosh this is cheesy aha) and i just dont feel the same when i listen to his new stuff. It just feels like normal elctro pop music imo (especially mobile orchestra with all of the guest singers). Sorry I have way too many opinions about Adam's work lmao. His music has helped me get through a lot so i've become pretty critical about it :3

@fancy2na Yeah like Adam has always said he's a pretty shy guy, maybe he kind of wanted to put something out there and get criticism without people being biased and saying "omg it's owl city so I love ittt!" I kind of wanted to not assume it was him though, just in case it was someone else and Adam was getting the credit for it, but one or two of the tracks are almost identical to Adam's earlier projects (Yachats for example) so yeah, it makes sense! I was going through the track list earlier actually, and there are so many collaborations with some of Adam's fave artists like Helios and Hammock and I was like awhh yey, he got to collab with his heroes! :') Seriously, the main thing that bothered me with his new music is the lyrics. Like the reason I love AY is because he always has such a way with words (his blog posts as well as his music) and to hear him come out with cheesy nonsense like "woah oh oh oh oh it's always a good time" just made me cringe! His new stuff seems really generic musically too. Like when you listen to stuff like Rainbow Veins, Saltwater Room, I'll Meet You There, the notes had like a "twinkling" quality? They sounded so pure and well magical like you said! And they were always poetic with deep topics and metaphors and just eugh, Adam what are you doing?! :') And haha I have way too many opinions too about Adam too so don't worry! :') His old music was really good at helping me too, it just seemed like it really meant something then, you know?

@lucejuice well put!! his lyrics were just so wonderful, his metaphors and creativity made me feel so much wanderlust ahaha. But yeah his new lyrics are so generic, a part of me feels like it's not so much that he's lost his touch, but that he's changed himself purposely to appeal to more fans. Consider the song Bombshell Blonde, in it he calls the girl he's singing about a 'hot mess in a dress' and he even mentions drugs a few times, and like, I was so shocked!! One thing i always loved about Adam was the sort of innocence he projected in his older stuff, so when i heard bombshell blonde i was like holy shit this is so wrong!! No way this is the same Adam that sings about going to the dentist and getting sunburns!! But yeah It just shows how much his new style is more for publicity and appealing to the masses as opposed to his older stuff which was just him doing his thing. But then think of Color Therapy, if he's going for popularity/genericness then why wouldnt he credit himself? I think color therapy could be a sort of outlet for him, one where he doesnt have to conform like he does with owl city! (Truthfully my expectations for future owl city albums are super low. He said before releasing mobile orchestra that he took heavy inspiration from Ocean Eyes and i had such high hopes but then BAM disappointment. I don't think there's even a single da da da in that album). But yeah if color therapy isnt actually him then im thinking way too much into this lmao.

@fancy2na Yeah! It feels like he's trying to appeal to new people but in the process alienating his loyal fans! Which is just infuriating because yeah, he could totally experiment with different styles, but that doesn't mean he should lose his like OC signature if that makes sense? Like change up the genre a little, but keep the emotion and the magic! Haha, I'm not gonna lie right. but I actually loved Bombshell Blonde! :') The lyrics were still clever and Owl City-ish in the sense that there were puns and cool imagery and the craziness of it just reminded me of his early screamo stuff, like weird for him, but still kinda cool! And, I guess I kind of just thought, Adam's a grown man, he's not like a kid in his parent's basement anymore, if he has these kind of feelings and wants to write about them then shoot, just don't do it in a generic, top 40 hit kind of way haha! But I much preferred it when he was just locking himself in his basement away from producers and messing around on ProTools and MySpace. Yeah, I think Colour Therapy could be an outlet too, like he can make stuff for himself without being judged. And my expectations for further albums are kind of mixed. Like, I think now he's made this huge turning point, he might not want to go back to his old style. However, a lot of the reviews for MO were pretty harsh, like a lot of people slated it, so he might just come to his senses and do what he's good at! But seriously, like I was so so excited for a new OC album after so long and after I heard the preview of Trust Me (it was on his Tumblr have you heard it?) I was just yasssss it's OG Adam Young back!! But obvs not lol. Hahah I get you with the da da das! And WHERE are all the songs about the ocean might I add??!! :')

@lucejuice everyone is subject to their own opinion of course, it's not that i dont like his new stuff, i do like it but not to the same depth and in the same way as his old stuff!! Yeah i miss all of the songs about the ocean and wanderlust and all of that mystical stuff, it's what makes his music special to me :) Then again like i said i have a bit of an attachment to it lol. And by Trust Me you mean Floppy fish right?? Gosh i love it so much!! You could slap it right onto Ocean Eyes and it would fit in perfectly!!! I really hope he finishes it one day, that song is exactly what i wish his new albums were like! But yeah he's growing up and he's of course allowed to do whatever he feels like, even if some of his fans like me prefer to be stuck in the past ahaha ^^ I take what I can get. I havent been on his blog in a year or two though, has he been updating it? I heard about Colour therapy from tumblr back in like may or something!
