Last year, my somewhat estranged father suddenly texted me that he had adopted a rescue dog. Samantha had spent three years tied to tree, used as a baby factory until breeders abandoned her. When my father first brought her home, she was a skittish mess, terrified of people, other dogs, and being left alone for more than five minutes.
Over the past months, I've watch both her and my father grow and help each other warm up to people. While they both still have a long way to go, I'm extremely proud of their progress so far. This mix is them.
