When I saw your comment, I was like, 'It sounds pretty happy and carefree...' (I don't listen to lyrics or really try to decode them in most songs I hear; I'll look into it if I like a song or if something grabs my attention.) It turns out that the author wanted it that way: "I wanted to write it so it sounded kind of upbeat, so you wouldn't really know what it's about" - Ed Sheeran. So you're right, it's not exactly "care free song," but it does sound that way.
