The jazz music that developed in the 20's was buttoned-up, polished, and packaged for the (white) public in the 30's. Bandleaders began fusing the sounds of the previous decade with vocal arrangements, and people ate it up. All of these songs held the #1 position on the pop chart at some point from 1930 to 1935, leading to the Swing Era of the late 30's and 40's.
