It was the kind of sunny day that wasn’t too hot or humid. I wore a vintage floral Ralph Lauren tank top and cotton shorts. We took a long walk, celebrating the sun and the end of the school year.

I did cartwheels on the warm soft grass. We danced around each other, feeling our fingertips touch as we twirled.

We lay in the grass. The grass left red imprints on the undersides of my arms and made me itchy. We fell asleep and let ants crawl all over our bodies.
