John Peel is an iconic British Radio DJ, he mentored many alternative acts throughout his career. In 1976 he created a radio chart called the Festive 50s. Listeners would call in and name their top 3 songs of all-time, and he’d compile the list in a notebook. At the end of the year he’d play the top fifty selects. In 1982 the chart changed to only included songs of the year. It’s a great selection of artists including Artery, New Order and Bauhaus. Album cover is a 1982 POYi by Suzanne Vlamis.
