Prolific LA based producer Carlos Nino is one of my favourite artists of the last decade. His projects cover a broad spectrum from hip hop, jazz, folk, electronica, afrobeat to ambient and drone. His music also carries an unmistakably positive message, something conspicuously absent from many practitioners in some aforementioned genres *cough* hip hop :)

Ten years ago I was blasting those first fondle 'em Scienz of Life records, like man, these guys really different. Lil Sci kept popping up here and there over the years on guest spots or his own releases. Now he's back heavy with the Jay ARE project. He also has his "I am not for sale" album as John Robinson. Its got Flying Lotus beats and everything. Comeback stories like this are rare, especially for MC's with limited commercial appeal. Welcome back Sci, the game missed you.
