Tender Straitlaced Jazz: 1930-1935

The jazz music that developed in the 20's was buttoned-up, polished, and packaged for the (white) public in the 30's. Bandleaders began fusing the sounds of the previous decade with vocal arrangements, and people ate it up. All of these songs held the #1 position on the pop chart at some point from 1930 to 1935, leading to the Swing Era of the late 30's and 40's.

Swing sessions are pub nights that focus on great tunes from the jazz age. It's about all the lovely tunes that may get skipped for social swing dance settings. But this music deserves to be played in public for anyone to enjoy, that's why we invented swing sessions. And sure, the era had more dances than lindy hop. Here's some tracks from my set at the 1st Roffa Swingsession.
