Dick Clark was a "primary force in legitimizing music to America's whole population. The show gave music artists their first exposure to national audiences, Ike and Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, and Simon & Garfunkel. His shows were among the first where blacks and whites performed on the same stage and the audience seating was desegregated.

To curl up in the excitement of spontaneity, we must bare ourselves to a mix of just anything. From the folk signature of Johnny Cash and the pop rock vibes of the 80's/90's to the less distributed indie hits of the modern age, it's nice to just let loose and not know what's gonna play next. :)
