summer, 20 years ago. i was 10 and bought an old record player. my father dug out a dusty box, heavy, and full of vinyl, we set them spinning, and i fell into a rabbit hole of classics. every song brings back memories of vivid summer smells, wild flowers, and cricket songs ushering in sticky late july nights, as i sat in tall grass trying to figure out where in this world i fit in... i was happiest lost in these songs. my friends and i listened all summer, and we let our hair grow long and wild

Certain musicians just don't fit into only one specific tag. Let's just say their music is made with that american blend: folk, blues, country, soul and gospel. 20 tracks including Leon Russell, Ry Cooder and Neil Young.

There was more to music in the 1970's than Disco, The Captain & Tennille and Kiki Dee. Many of us ran screaming from that. Fifteen tracks including music by Arlo Guthrie, Blue Öyster Cult, and Bob Dylan.

Seventeen tracks including music by Dave Mason, Fleetwood Mac, and Jeff Beck.
This is the first tape in my "formal collection" of music mixes. The cassette was made for a soul-searching trip that I took out west by myself in 1981 (that's when the tape was made). All of this music was dubbed from reel-to-reel. Sadly, one cannot dictate the sequence, as you cannot "shuffle play" a cassette.

These songs are great in their own right, but when they are covered by artists who stand on their own, they really shine.
Twenty-two tracks including music by Cream, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Roxy Music.
