I owe my diploma to this crazy mix of songs. Played at maximum volume, they kept me awake at 4am as I tried to pull essays and reports out of my brain (or butt?) Songs from The Pixies, Marvin Gaye, Cher, The Spice Girls...

A pretty keen mix if I do say so myself! Included in this here mix is also what happens to be just what just might just be music by but by far by no means limited to such artists and such bands such as Cake, Miasme, and Twin Sister.

Continuing with my era-specific series, now I'm looking at arguably my favorite era of music, 1971-1973 in Los Angeles. This era was experimental, poppy, sugar-sweet (hence dessert), and wonderful, driven by advances in studio quality and the investment big labels were making in talented artists. List includes Van Dyke Parks, Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman.
