We’ll skip who ordered the building of the hydrogen bomb in 1950 & cover the introduction of the 1st cardboard credit card in that year. There were a few hiccups, but in time reduced nagging your date for their extra change to pay the gas attendant; mind you running out of fuel did have its roadside perks. Average new houses were about $8K, salaries ran roughly $3K a year, a gallon of gas was 18 cents & a basic new car was around $1,5K.
