hc: while Fitz is in a coma, Jemma keeps vigil at his bedside, leaving only for bathroom breaks and 1hr naps in her bunk. On the eighth day, Coulson bans her from visiting Fitz at the hospital so she sneaks into his bunk, pulls on his biggest sweater and wraps herself up in his duvet, closing her eyes as she breathes in his smell - musky and familiar, a smell of home. Under his pillow she finds his iPod, still playing, with the monkey earphones she had bought for him as a joke the year they were paired together at the Academy. Fitz had always been her rock, the one that could make things okay, yet now she was the one who had to be strong, keep going like he always did, fight for both of them.
