I wish I could play my Irish flutes as well as the people in these recordings. It's all the flubs and grace notes that I have a hard time adding to the music.
@skigirl2015-197 Well, sure wish I'd played those tracks :) There is a huge difference between playing Irish tunes, and playing tunes Irish. But it can be learned. Shamless plug: If you're in Switzerland or southern Germany, you could take my intro class.
@segv2 Yeah, I can play Irish tunes (The celtic music book I have is falling apart because I play it so much) but playing the tunes Irish is what gets me. I'm learning to play Irish slowly but surly though! And I unfortunately do not live in Germany or Switzerland. But thank you anyway!
This is great, thank-you! I play the fiddle and going to the fleadh ceol with my celí band this summer- might be playing a few of these in the sessions!
Thats unreal!! i love your Gs and Ds!! Ive only started playing at Christmas time! The stressing on some of the notes in one of the tunes in No.4 is really something!
this is just great inspiration for me. Would you have any rep. suggestions for a beginner ensemble of a tin whistle/flute, guitar, bor drum?(sp) and possibly fiddle?
If you're looking for instructional material, I recommend Shannon Heaton's "Oil for the Chain". It's a booklet and CD with tunes old and new, played on Flute & Guitar. If you want more examples of great flute playing, then get the three "Wooden Flute Obsession" CDs.
