I made a disparaging comment recently about Ella and felt bad afterwards. Now I really do!

It was a misguided comparison of icons in a comment thread with btrxz about lame, codpiece-wearing, hotel-wrecking, virgin-deflowering classic rock. Makes perfect sense, right? Anyway, her voice sounds great here. I think I just heard Tisket, a Tasket too many times! ;-)

haha, yep, I don;t have much love for her novelty songs either, but that was what sold a records amongst the white populace at the time I suppose. She can do some really amazing things with her voice though; I'm glad you could stand to hear four of her songs :)

Abbey Lincoln is seriously pissed off isn't she?

I'm a sucker for standards sung by some of the greats. Ella Fitzgerald is everything.
