Joao Gilberto is considered one of the fathers of the Brazilian style known as Bossa Nova, together with one of the most prolific Brazilian composers of the 20th century, the 'other' father of Bossa Nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim. Gilberto developed the guitar strumming style for Bossa that was loved and adopted by the musicians of that movement.
