In response to the Finders Keepers/Twisted Nerve/Bird/Battered Ormnaments stock loss in the PIAS warehouse fires caused by rioting on August 8th a few of our close label mates have come together to compile some of their favourite moments from the Finders Keepers family discography. A series of limited edition CD and MP3 compilations curated by the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Demdike Stare, David Holmes and Gruff Rhys including some exclusive and unreleased tracks, are now ready to order directly from the website and like minded retailers in a bid to ease us back onto our feet releasing phantastic obscure and obsolete music as soon as possible.

Indeed he is a strange one. Quotes continued. . . O facebook not letting me put more in the quote box. . . I suppose it is a good way to get a small picture of how I think so it belongs in this box too. . . "If you can take a dick,, you can take a joke" IT Stand upright, speak thy thoughts, declare The truth thou hast, that all may share; Be bold, proclaim it everywhere: They only live who dare. Voltaire The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature. Marcus Aurelius The universe is transformation; our life is what our thoughts make it. Marcus Aurelius Such as are your habitual thoughts, such also will be the character of your mind; for the soul is dyed by the thoughts. Marcus Aurelius And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything. William Shakespeare Character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live as well as think. Ralph Waldo Emerson Common sense is not so common. Voltaire I never did very well in math - I could never seem to persuade the teacher that I hadn't meant my answers literally. Calvin Trillin Imagination rules the world. Napoleon Bonaparte The lunatic, the lover, and the poet, are of imagination all compact. William Shakespeare You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. Jack London Humor is mankind's greatest blessing. Mark Twain Humor is merely tragedy standing on its head with its pants torn. Irvin S. Cobb If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide. Mohandas Gandhi A poet can survive everything but a misprint. Oscar Wilde I am waiting for them to prove that God is really American. Lawrence Ferlinghetti No, I didn't become disenchanted. I just couldn't paint like them. Lawrence Ferlinghetti The paintings may communicate even better because people are lazy and they can look at a painting with less effort than they can read a poem. Lawrence Ferlinghetti "True friends stab you in the front." -Oscar Wilde It is the eye of ignorance that assigns a fixed and unchangeable color to every object; beware of this stumbling block. Paul Gauguin "It's freeing, to think that there's always an aspect of us outside the grasp of speech, the common stuff of language." — Mark Doty (Dog Years) There's a spark of divinity within each of us, and it's when we share that spark that we become most fully human. -- Doc at St. Rose's Hospice, 1992 We’ve gotten into the pernicious habit of dismissing utopia as impractical. It may be that utopia is the only way out. -- Doc Humes, c. 1980, in taped conversation with Oliver Trager It’s not uncommon that a frightened community will implode on itself. They reinforce the clan structure, they put up walls around the town, they mount watches and guards, they’re afraid of being poisoned—there’s a whole raft of symptoms that goes with this disorder. It’s an anxiety disorder. -- Doc Humes, in taped conversation, c. 1979 But the word hippie, generally speaking, applies to people who are concerned with things of the mind, concerned with things of the spirit. That doesn’t mean that they’re aesthetes. On the contrary, you know, they also fling a mean Frisbee. -- 5/8/78 conversation in Billerica prison, with Oliver Trager
