Part social satirist, part social evolutionary, He is The Corwyn, and from Him all life flows... Well, not quite. But damn if it doesn't make for a catchy intro, no? A bon vivant, a dilletante, a quasi-buddhist Shinto jew trying to outrun Karma and grappling with the fundamental existential crises that face all men. A seeker of truth in all its forms, on a mission to redefine what it means to be creative, a lover of all things meta, daring to stand up and forge his own destiny. A multimedia whore, and self-promotional archdiocese, author of fantasy novels, and lover of financial markets, economics, Randian philosophy, and bad ass rock 'n' roll. A product of can only be called Miami's fringe society, a young Corwyn (aka The Corwyn, Corwyn The Man, The Man Himself) found himself surrounded by music. Mostly at the parties his parents threw for all their engineers and biker friends. Fed and nurtured on a steady diet of classic rock, our plucky protagonist grew up immersed in The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Steppenwolf, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and the list goes on... But it was Eddie Van Halen who, in the nascent days of MTV, truly touched Corwyn, sparking within him a burning desire to kick ass and take names, to rock all night and party every day. And finally, at sixteen, he smuggled an electric guitar and amplifier from Guatemala past the Don Johnson wannabes in security at Miami International Airport, and so began a lifelong--and some might say obsessive--pursuit of mastering the art of the six string. He studied at the feet of the masters themselves: Van Halen, Slash, Satriani, Vai, Randy Rhodes, Zakk Wylde, Kirk Hammett, Michael Schenker, Keith Richards, Prince, Joe Perry, you name them. He watched, he listened, and most of all, he played. Blessed with also having some wonderful teachers, the likes of rocktronica phenom Jimmy Cypher, Corwyn soaked up every smidgen of guitar knowledge he could find like mana from Heaven. At 22 he worked with Athens rock sensation Overnight Low, recording lead guitar on the band's the One Way Ticket EP before joining the band and quickly establishing himself not only as a bitchin' guitarist but as an entertaining performer as well, delighting audience and band members alike with performances that have since become known as "The Corwyn Show." Since then, he's worked on several projects, such as the American Gigolos, with whom he also co-wrote, produced, and played all the instruments on their EP Greatest Hits: Volume 1. He's produced and managed other bands as well, branching out and cultivating talents in songwriting and arranging and composition. Making the move from lead guitarist to solo musician, Corwyn put out an instrumental disc under the name GTR back in 2005, and is currently working on his first full length solo album, hopefully furthering his bid for world domination. On stage, in the studio, or just noodling on his couch, Corwyn's dedication to rock 'n' roll and discipline toward music remain unwavering and always leave him hungry for the next opportunity to kick ass. Far flung from the soap-operatic proportions of his Mother's dysfunctional and sadly wealthy family in Central America, and all but invisible to the "worthless redneck yokels" in cornfed Illinois, Corwyn was free to choose a life and destiny wholly apart from that which has come before him, an opportunity to change HIS world and thereby, THE world, that he does not take for granted. Neither Republican nor Democrat, Libertarian nor Hippie, he thinks himself a pragmatist with a healthy distrust of authority and levying skepticism with wit and candor at those who wield it, the twin powers of irony and sardony at his full command he strikes hard and fades fast into the night like a self-styled superhero. Or, as he like to say: writer, rockstar, babe-magnet.
