"All my days I've been searching, to find out what this life is worth/through the books and bibles of time I've made up my mind/I don't condemn, I don't convert...Love is my religion." - Ziggy Marley
I am unapologetic about being myself. I go my own way, whether or not others are going the same way.
I live for politics. Although I actually prefer issue-based to party-based politics, I am an active member of the Democratic Party. I'm of the progressive wing of that party, as I support gay marriage, an immediate end to Don't Ask Don't Tell and the Defense of Marriage Act, a single-payer health care system, gender equality, the decriminalization of marijuana, the elimination of corporate welfare, the upholding of the separation between church and state, and other progressive ideas. I am also passionate about poverty issues. I find it atrocious that a country as wealthy as the United States has such a high poverty level, even under positive economic conditions. Also, I despise the private prison system. Some things should not be profit driven.
I am a very passionate and compassionate person. My passionate empathy is at the root of my progressive politics.
I love listening to the music and reading histories of the 1960s and 1970s. It was a time of intense politics and experimentation, and intense change for women and minorities.
I love to travel with an intensity only surpassed by my love of politics. I've been to Germany, Switzerland, France, Scotland, England, and Italy. I went to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, and it was amazing. I was on the National Mall in D.C. for President Obama's inauguration.
I want to see and do everything possible. I'm all about those "lifetime experiences." I am trying to find the time to take a motorcycle class and a SCUBA class, and I want to get a concealed carry license, though I don't happen to own a gun. I also want to go skydiving and go to bronc riding school.
I started at ASU with a high level of certainty about what I wanted to do with my life. With one semester left in graduate school, I have no idea. In economic times like these, flexibility is required. As long as my life remains other-focused and I make a living, I can be happy.

I wish that I believed in fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late.
I am large; I contain multitudes.
