Notes
Latin jazz style blends rhythms and percussion instruments of Cuba and the Spanish Caribbean with jazz and its fusion of European and African musical elements. In New Orleans, Latin American music influenced the early jazz style. By the 1940s, Latin American melodies and dance rhythms made their way into the USA while the sounds of American jazz spread through the Caribbean. Swing bands expanded their repertory to include rumbas and congas.
