1989: Rock and Roll's Last Great Year.

Notes

For me, 1989 was the best year of the Eighties musically, and the last great, superb year of Rock and Roll's long reign that started the moment Chuck Berry began playing "Johnny B. Goode". You think I'm exaggerating? Check out these tracks, one better than the other, and dare to tell me 1989 was NOT a good year.

Loaded of good intentions, the music industry released very good albums and singles through 1989. It seems now that they blew their load because in the following year these record labels had to rely on independent artists to drive movements like grunge and alternative.

1989 was pop music's swan song. The Berlin Wall fell, there was a sense of hope for change, and the Eighties waved goodbye with these tracks. Discover more music visiting cacaorock.com!
