I dislike genre labels although I use them. Everything on this list could be termed Alternative by the accepted standards. Most of these were big hits though. Only one third of these songs didn't make top twenty on one rock chart or the other. Over half of those were album cuts I specifically chose. I ask you, what's so alternative about that. That's why I put the phrase radio friendly in the tags. If nothing else this is a tuneful batch of songs tied together by the decade of their conception.
