They were the emotional backbone, soft-spoken and genuine. They resembled home more than anyone else. A shoulder to cry on. An ear to listen. Once they found you in good company, you could say that you had a friend for life. Maybe you could say that you had more. They are the embodiment of clarity and passion, a calm sea or a warm mug of cocoa in winter.
