Edit from "the future": Although no one has ever expressed such commentary, it is deeply distressing to me that one might take this as an 'ironic' playlist. I state in my about that I hate the concept of 'liking or doing something ironically' - I'll theorize about why some other place - but this playlist is about our warped perceptions of time, the fallacy of modernity, ephemerality of technology, and the overall arbitrary made up bullshit of trying to be cool and current. I know that's very lofty for a playlist that starts with Video Killed the Radio Star, but I consider this a playlist for another essay. The above description is aware of how other people might perceive these songs, but I love every last one of them with supreme new sincerity. The tag 'shit you weren't listening to but you are' is poking fun at this mentality. Enjoy, but, like, genuinely.
