Places from the Silmarillion and the Lord of the Rings: Imladris was founded by Elrond as a refuge for those that fled the fall of Eregion. Known as Rivendell, it became a sanctuary and primary dwelling of the High Elves of Eriador. It is here where Elrond fostered his brother's heirs, and here where the Fellowship was created.
