One the best and most iconic subgenres of metal is thrash metal. While Queen and/or Black Sabbath are often credited with the first thrash metal songs, it wasn't until the late 70's and early 80's that bands devoted to this fast, aggressive style emerged. One of the best known thrash metal bands is Metallica, but there are many others. While thrash metal has produced some of the best metal songs and riffs, these stand out for being good, and often very recognizable.
