Paul Hindemith wrote his Sonata fur harfe in 1939 in Switzerland for Italian harpist Clelia Gatti-Aldrovandi. The piece is one of two which participants in the 2015 Lyon & Healy Awards competition must perform. This radio mix includes 21 versions of the sonata’s first movement, Massig Schnell, & bonus two full versions of the Sonata played by Nicanor Zabaleta & Susann McDonald.
