beginning as the weakest player of the game, the pawn is the first to walk into the fray. regarded by their compatriots as easily manipulated, they are frequently sacrificed on the field of battle.
although seemingly useless, the pawn alone has the power to transform into another. this can only be accomplished if they manage to fight their way across the board without being first eliminated. but victory is sweet indeed, and it is no wonder that the new form a pawn often takes is that of a queen.
