@anne-claire.c Thank you! You should never stop searching for, listening to and enjoying new music. It's always out there, somewhere and waiting to be discovered.
I've never learned to like them. The painful anguish in the singing style of Matthew Bellamy sounds very pretensious to me. Apart from The Origin of Symmetry, I think they're works are little bit overrated....Maybe one day I will give Muse another chance....
Starting mid-80s, a few choices I personally wouldn't have gone for. But still, a great mix and overview of the last 50 years of UK music. Thanks :) I've recommended it to my non-UK students to get an idea of the culture.
Thank you...actually the mid-80's and especially the late 80's can't be compared with the glorious years before. Apart from The Smiths, Prefab Sprout, The House of Love along with the whole Creation catalogue nothing much was happening in the english indie rock. It finally came back reincarnated when the madchester-indie dance scene bursted out around 1990....

Thank you for all those hertwarming and positive comments. Here is another mix of mine where the same method is used for American music. http://8tracks.com/kristinn-palsson/a-rollin-stone-a-journey-through-the-history-of-the-american-rock-music-1950-2013

Fantastic compilation. You don't need piano and strings to study when you've got 50 years of British Rock.
Cheers
