Phil's Spectre: 24 Bricks in the Wall of Sound

Phil Spector is one of Rock's most complicated figures. At once a musical genius and a failed musician, he is the man who sent young women's heartache to the top of the charts and the convicted murderer of actress Lana Clarkson. This collection looks at Spector's musical legacy, from the development of his "Wall of Sound" technique in the early '60s, his early imitators after his magnum opus floundered, a triumphant return to music with grand ballads, through violent, drunken recording sessions to his last produced single. We'll also hear from Spector's successors in the '70s and '80s, who brought his sunny California sound to locales as far away as Asbury Park and Sweden.
