Before We Forget: Women of Lovers Rock 1975-1992

After rocksteady, in the early days of reggae, there was lovers rock: a nascent, soulful type of reggae influenced by soul from Chicago but based on reggae sound systems out of London between the early 70s through to the present. In the beginning it was primarily a women's game before being adopted by male producers in Jamaica.

This mix features artists such as Louisa Mark (14 yrs young), Kofi, Janet Kay (pictured), and producers Lloyd Coxsone, Dennis Bovell, etc, on the boards.
