Summertime Concert (Tea-Time Favourites)

Strings were made to serenade the summer. What could be more romantic than the sound of a Spanish guitar or an Italian violin on a hot summer's night? And when these fall silent, the music of crickets is enough to sweeten one's dreams.

For summertime teas, musical selections for the solo violin, guitar, lute or cello are just right. Chamber orchestras, or any ensemble smaller than a symphony orchestra, can also create the ideal backdrop for tea-time. The soft and slow largos and andantes, found as middle movements in concertos, are often perfect.

Here are some of my tea-time favourites.
