I think it's easier for most people to not pay attention to entire genres for the sake of not having to make a decision that might go against their prescribed paradigm.
Actually, I think I may have just summed up the entire Republican platform right there.

I think it's fair to say that anyone standing too far on one side of the line or the other (and while I'm soapboxing, let me just say that this applies to politics, religion, culture, race, linguistics, gastronomy, sexual orientation and one's view on whether or not NASA faked the fucking moon landing) is missing out on a breathtaking view of the middle ground.

At any rate, when you profess a love of country music, you run the risk of being labeled a hick, an cretin, or worse, a Republican! Well, I am kind of a hick, admittedly, but Republican? Oh hell no!

No shame whatsoever in laying claim to a swath of hickdom. Republican's a fightin' word where I come from, though.

Thanks for coming out, brother. I figured you'd enjoy this one, but I didn't wanna force it upon ya. I appreciate the support.

Someday I'm going to write a manifesto about America's love/hate relationship with country music. Surprisingly, many non-white folks & non-Americans seem to appreciate good country music for it's authenticity. I'm not talking about the schlock faux country coming out of Nashville these days, but the good stuff which any of you can find on many of my mixes, if I do say so myself. ;-)

It's an odd thing indeed. I can't begin to explain it. I've listened to country my entire life, but I've never truly been a fan. I do, however, believe that I can recognize talent when I see/hear it, and these folks (along with a number of their contemporaries and predecessors) are in possession of the majority share within this realm.

I am not a fan of country music though I liked this mix. However I have to admit that some of the tracks were too whining for me:))

To be perfectly honest, outside of these artists and a select group of other classic performers, I'm not really either. I haven't heard any contemporary country that I like, and I agree that it can get a bit whiney. However, there's something about these songs that just draws me in. I'm glad that you found that too. Thanks for listening, and thanks for the comment.
