Discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei, Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun, and has 53 official moons with 9 unconfirmed. Some of the notable moons include Titan, Enceladus, Iapetus, Mimas, Tethys, Phoebe, Pan, Dione, Rhea, and Hyperion. It is one of the four gas giants within our solar system, and though all of the gas giants have a ring system, Saturn's rings are much more impressive in visibility and complexity. Among its many impressive features are a unique hexagonal polar vortex on its north pole, the pictured southern aurora, a magnetic field 578 times as powerful as Earth's, wind speeds of 1600f/s (500m/s), and a giant, barely visible ring of microscopic particles discovered in 2009 called the Phoebe ring, which extends from 7.7 to 12.4 million kilometers away from the planet.
