TomCat Special Edition Jazz Mix: Night After Night In Tunisia

One composition, many interpretations. TomCat directs your attention to Dizzy Gillespie's Latin-tinged bebop anthem, "A Night in Tunisia." Art Blakey witnessed its inception (by Gillespie and pianist Frank Paparelli) while they toured with Earl Hines in 1942. "We were somewhere in Texas and Dizzy wrote it on the bottom of a garbage pail. True story." Gillespie’s volcanic 1946 recording is (deservedly) in the Grammy Hall of Fame. May the mix it inspired move you night after night.
