After The Towers Fell

Notes

I held out hope that the World Trade Center towers would remain standing and the firemen and survivors would leave safely... But I watched the towers fall and all hope was lost. This mix recalls the sadness, horror and despair from that terrible day 15 years ago.

In memory of all who lost their lives on 9/11.

11 somber songs from Boards of Canada, Radiohead, Caribou and others.

Well my friend, it's been almost a year since I made my last mix and after all the changes that happened around here, I decided to pay the money to listen to mixes. And guess who and what mix has the honor of being listened to first? Congratulations. I knew you wouldn't disappoint me.

@kahnman Glad to see you're back and I'm honored you listened to my more recent mixes. 8tracks really lost it's luster for me. I understand why they had to eliminate international users and implement the time restrictions but they decimated the sense of community and the incentive to keep making mixes. I still listen to 8tracks occasionally (have 3 hours per week with the number of mixes/likes I got) and may still publish mixes but it's not as special as it once was. Take care and glad you're back!

@ArlynFoma Yes, all valid points you made. I bit the bullet and paid for a calm radio sub that allows you to mix channels - I like injecting ambient environmental sounds into my music - but it still doesn't replace all of the obscure artists that I pull from 8tracks mixoligists like yourself. I'll at least hang around for a year here and see if it's worth continuing. There has to be enough fresh mixes to keep me around. Sad but even the forums were pulled so there's not the same sense of community anymore...
