Something about the period from the French and Indian War to the end of the war of 1812 is so fascinating to me. The idea of a bunch of people getting together and creating a national identity- forging a country in the face of arguable the most powerful military of the time with ideas and hunting rifles and pirate ships-! It was such a time of growth and challenge and dynamism as cultures collided and writhed and coalescence into One Nation, Under God.
