My first love is dance music, whether that be hand-dance, slam dance or breakdance. All else is incidental: Hailing from Rochester, NY, I've been into punk rock for years -- which is how I discovered Sun Ra. In Upstate, I sang for Linus and Boutros Boutros.
In D.C., I played bass for Red Line District, and danced at Make*Up shows. At this time I joined the Natural Elements B-boy Crew (Universal Zulu Nation/Wild Style), the "prime" for what would be Lionz of Zion (peace to Sonny/Ghost) -- It was via this crew that Crazy Legs (Rock Steady Crew) would bless me with my B-boy name Bruno Zaire.
In Minneapolis, I played jazz with THE JAZZ (Paul Cherlin) guitars + drums, and sat next to Saddiq Sayers and K-Salaam on the Rhyme Sayers' weekly 2 Tha Breakadawn radio show.
In Oakland, Bruno Zaire is a member the Full Moon DJ Crew, rocking house parties and club spots for the past few years with DJ Ron, Actual Black, and Qwan Z... including Li Po's Lounge (SF), Nickie's (SF), Koko's Cocktails (SF), Beta Lounge (Berkeley), Passand Lounge (Berkeley), and Merchant's Saloon (Oakland).
