Joe Meek amazingly produced a string of hit singles from his apt. studio above a shop in London. Meek's pioneering recording techniques and DIY approach were unheard of. His biggest success was The Tornados' 1962 worldwide #1 hit "Telstar" After a long struggle with debt, paranoia and depression, he killed his landlady and shot himself on 3 February 1967.
