The mix kicks off with an instrumental that reminds me of Detroit midnight radio when Jeff Mills, aka the Wizard, would spin a hybrid of techno, synth pop, and hip hop, along with lots of voice samples. From the opener the mix walks through the electronic and hip hop side alleyways, including two of the most difficult singles to get 'unstuck' from your mind. The next stop is a detour through guitar driven punk and indie. Shortly after its a dose of throwback soul and blues. The last 2 sections of the 2016 journey contain an exploration of the indie landscape, ending with what I would call, more delicate sounds.
