The story plays on the idea of using magic through the elements. A girl grows up in a isolated village that worships a goddess of the air, not knowing any other part of the world. She has to go through some kind of testing to determine where she fits in her village, but she fails this test because she doesn't have the mark of an air elemental. Right before she leaves, the woman who she thought was her mother revealed that they took her in from outside the village. She leaves to find out the rest of her world. Basically, there is a couple of races, each associated with an elemental, but elementals are now rare and no one likes them. Girl goes on a quest with some other people to find out her past, and to train to be good at elementals.
