Superheroes, coming-of-age, and mystery. It follows Scout, a college student who suddenly finds herself working as a sidekick to the Defenders, one of the world's first superhero groups. But not every conflict is as back-and-white as the comic books make out.

As Scout hones her superhero abilities, the tensions in Riverside swell. While investigating the rise in crime, Scout and her fellow sidekicks realize that someone has it out for Abnormals - and, specifically, the Defenders. Worse, all signs point to a traitor in their midst. But their mentors won't listen, and no one else takes the threat seriously. Let on their own, the sidekicks must take down the threat before it takes down one of their own.
