There's this point upon exiting town that there is just...nothing, a dropoff into something dark and foreboding that she's pretty sure is the void. Ghosts are floating behind every window, pulling back the dusty curtains and peering like they're all sentries watching for something dangerous in the sticky dustbowl evening.
