In 1957, the Soviet Union launched the satelitte, Sputnik II carrying a stray dog named Laika without the intention of ever recovering her and the spacecraft. Laika died within a few hours of entering orbit due to overheating in the carrying space that was hastily designed for her. Here's a playlist for those who've left home.

@Sal Vacui her story is just so strangely captivating! Can't believe I forgot to add Laika by Arcade Fire. Fixed it now though.
